Cristobal Tapia de Veer (The White Lotus, Utopia, The Girl with All the Gifts, The Third Day, Hunters, National Treasure) is returning to score the upcoming horror sequel Smile 2. The film is written and directed by Parker Finn and stars Naomi Scott, Rosemarie DeWitt, Kyle Gallner, Lukas Gage, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Peter Jacobson, Raúl Castillo, Dylan Gelula and Ray Nicholson. The movie follows a global pop sensation who is about to embark on a new world tour begins experiencing increasingly terrifying events and is forced to face her dark past to regain control of her life before it spirals out of control. Finn is also producing the project with Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen & Wyck Godfrey (Twilight, The Maze Runner), Isaac Klausner (Love, Simon, First Man), as well as Robert Salerno (A Single Man, Nocturnal Animals). Tapia de Veer has previously scored 2022’s original Smile movie. Smile 2 will be released in theaters nationwide on October 18, 2024 by Paramount Pictures.
The composer’s other recent projects include Halina Reijn’s Babygirl, which just premiered at the Venice Film Festival and will be released in U.S. theaters nationwide on December 25 by A24.
