Composer Michael Andrews (Donnie Darko, Bridesmaids, Freaks & Geeks, Daddy’s Home, Me and You and Everyone We Know, Bad Teacher, Funny People) is reuniting with director Morgan Neville (Won’t You Be My Neighbor, 20 Feet from Stardom) on the upcoming animated documentary Piece by Piece. The movie marks Neville’s animated feature debut and tells the life story of singer and producer Pharrell Williams through LEGO pieces featuring the voices of Williams himself, Gwen Stefani, Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z, Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg and Pusha T. Neville & Williams also producing the project for Tremolo Productions’ Caitrin Rogers (Miss Americana, The Black Godfather), as well as i am OTHER’s Mimi Valdés (Swan Song, Carmen). Andrews has previously collaborated with Neville on the 2021 feature, Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain. Piece by Piece is expected to premiere at this year’s Telluride Film Festival and is set to be released in theaters on October 11, 2024 by Focus Features.
Andrews is also expected to return to score the second season of Apple TV+’s Platonic.
