Alex Weston (Expats, Wander Darkly, The Novice, The Adults, Goodnight Mommy, What Breaks the Ice) has been tapped to score the upcoming sci-fi horror thriller Afraid. The film is written and directed by Chris Weitz (About a Boy, The Golden Compass, American Pie) and stars John Cho, Katherine Waterston, Lukita Maxwell, Havana Rose Liu, David Dastmalchian and Keith Carradine. The movie follows a man and his family who are selected to test a revolutionary new home device: a digital family assistant called AIA that learns the family’s behaviors and begins to anticipate their needs. Weitz is also producing the project with Blumhouse’s Jason Blum (Get Out, Halloween) and Andrew Miano (A Single Man, Pinocchio). Weston has previously scored the Miano-produced feature The Farewell. Afraid will be released in theaters nationwide on August 30, 2024 by Sony Pictures.
