Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the new French movie adaptation of Alexandre Dumas’ classic novel The Count of Monte Cristo (Le Comte de Monte-Cristo). The album features the film’s original music composed by Jérôme Rebotier (The Fantastic Journey of Margot and Marguerite, About Joan, Sahara, The Best Is Yet to Come, What’s in a Name?). The soundtrack will be released digitally next Friday, June 28 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also check out the track list. A CD version and vinyl edition is also being released in France and is now available to order as an import on Amazon. A first track (Le trésor) is already available to stream/download now and can be checked out after the jump. The Count of Monte Cristo is directed by Matthieu Delaporte & Alexandre de La Patellière and stars Pierre Niney, Bastien Bouillon, Anaïs Demoustier, Anamaria Vartolomei Laurent Lafitte. The action adventure tells the story of Edmond Dantès who – after being imprisoned for fourteen years for a crime he didn’t commit – manages a daring escape and assumes a new identity to exact his revenge on the three men who betrayed him. The movie premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and will open in French theater on June 28. Samuel Goldwyn Films has picked up domestic distribution rights for a U.S. release laster this year.
