La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1981 animated sci-fi fantasy anthology feature Heavy Metal directed by Gerald Potterton and starring John Candy, Eugene Levy, Harold Ramis, Rodger Bumpass, Alice Playten, John Vernon, Jackie Burroughs, Don Francks, Joe Flaherty, Martin Lavut, Marilyn Lightstone, Percy Rodriguez, Susan Roman, August Schellenberg, Richard Romanus and Zal Yanovsky. The 2-CD set features the newly remastered original score from the film composed by Academy Award winner Elmer Bernstein (To Kill a Mockingbird, The Magnificent Seven, Far from Heaven, Ghostbusters, Animal House, Airplane, Stripes), including the score presentation on the first disc and the content of the original 1981 score album on the second disc. The soundtrack is limited to 1,500 copies and will be available to order on the label’s official website at noon today. Heavy Metal is now available on VOD, Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD and DVD.
