Composer Theodore Shapiro (Severance, The Devil Wears Prada, Tropic Thunder, Bombshell, Marley & Me) is reteaming with director Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat) on the upcoming action comedy Jackpot. The film starring Awkwafina, John Cena, Ayden Mayeri, Donald Elise Watkins, Murray Hill, Sam Asghari & Simu Liu is set in the near future, when a “Grand Lottery” has been newly established in California, with a catch: kill the winner before sundown to legally claim their multi-billion dollar jackpot. The movie follows a woman who mistakenly finds herself with the winning ticket and reluctantly joins forces with amateur lottery protection agent. Rob Yescombe (Outside the Wire) wrote the screenplay. Feig is also producing the project with Joe Roth (Alice in Wonderland, Maleficent), Jeff Kirschenbaum (Fast X, Anyone But You) and Laura Fischer. Shapiro has previously collaborated with Feig on 2016’s Ghostbusters and the features Spy, A Simple Plan, Last Christmas and The School for Good and Evil. Jackpot will premiere on August 15, 2024 on Prime Video.

Shapiro is also returning to score the second season of Apple TV+’s Severance, which is expected to premiere later this year.
