Composer Lele Marchitelli (Mare of Easttown, There’s Still Tomorrow, I’m Crazy About Iris Blond) is reteaming with director Paolo Sorrentino on the upcoming Italian drama Parthenope. The film is written and directed by Sorrentino (Youth, Il Divo, This Must Be The Place) and stars Celeste Dalla Porta, Stefania Sandrelli, Gary Oldman, Silvio Orlando, Luisa Ranieri, Silvia Degrandi, Isabella Ferrari, Lorenzo Gleijeses, Daniele Rienzo and Dario Aita. The movie follows the title character, born in the sea of Naples in 1950, as she searches for happiness over the long summers of her youth, falling in love with her home city and its many memorable characters.Sorrentino is also producing the project with Ardavan Safaee (Notre-Dame on Fire, The Time of Secrets), Anthony Vaccarello (Lux Æterna, Emilia Perez) and Lorenzo Mieli (We Are Who We Are, My Brilliant Friend). Marchitelli has previously collaborated with the director on the features The Great Beauty, Loro, The Hand of God and the HBO shows The Young Pope and The New Pope. Parthenope will premiere this month at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival and has recently been picked up by A24 for domestic distribution.
