Keegan DeWitt (Hearts Beat Loud, I’ll See You in My Dreams, A Teacher, The Hero, Love Again, Divorce, Sorry for Your Loss) has composed the original score for the upcoming comedy The Gutter. The film is directed by Yassir & Isaiah Lester and stars Shameik Moore, Susan Sarandon, D’Arcy Carden, Jackée Harry, Jay Ellis and Paul Reiser. The movie follows a young man who lands a position tending bar at his local bowling alley and gets pressured by a former pro-bowler and current champion drinker to accept his role as the greatest bowler ever put on this earth. Yassir Lester also wrote the screenplay. Liz Destro (Life of Crime, Lizzie), Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite, Nacho Libre), Helen Estabrook (Whiplash, Tully), Tristen Tuckfield and Jillian Apfelbaum (Late Night, Black Dynamite) are producing the project. The Gutter is premiering today at the 2024 SXSW Film Festival.
DeWitt also has Chad Hartigan’s The Threesome coming up. He has also recently scored the coming-of-age comedy drama Snack Shack written and directed by Adam Carter Rehmeier (Dinner in America) and starring Conor Sherry, Gabriel LaBelle, Mika Abdalla, Nick Robinson and David Costabile. The movie is set in Nebraska City in the summer of 1991 and follows two inseparable best friends who seize the opportunity to run the local pool’s rundown snack shack, when they meet Brooke an effortlessly cool lifeguard who puts their big summer plans and their friendship at risk. Ben LeClair (American Fiction, Fair Play), Ben Cornwell (All Square), Jordan Foley (Alone) & and Nick Smith (Gossamer Folds) are producing the MRC and T-Street Pictures production. The film will be released in theaters this Friday, March 15 by Republic Pictures.
