Volker Bertelmann (All Quiet on the Western Front, Lion, Hotel Mumbai, Adrift, The Old Guard, Patrick Melrose, Ammonite) has signed on to score the upcoming action thriller The Crow. The film is directed by Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman, Ghost in the Shell) and stars Bill Skarsgård, FKA twigs and Danny Huston. The movie based on the graphic novel of the same name by James O’Barr follows Eric Draven who – after being brutally murdered with his soulmate – is given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself and sets out to seek merciless revenge on the killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right. Zach Baylin (King Richard, Creed III) and William Schneider wrote the screenplay. Edward R. Pressman (Wall Street) who produced 1994’s first film adaptation of the material (scored by Graeme Revell) and its sequels is posthumously credited as a producer on the project, alongside Samuel Hadida (True Romance, Resident Evil), Victor Hadida (Belleville Cop, The Best Years of a Life), John Jencks (Jackie & Ryan) and Molly Hassell (Terminal, Braven). The Crow will be released in theaters nationwide on June 7, 2024 by Lionsgate.
Bertelmann’s other recent feature projects include James Hawes’ One Life, which opened in the UK theaters earlier this year and will be released in the U.S. next Friday, March 15 by Bleecker Street.
I´m not sure, if this assignment is a good thing. I think I´m gonna re-listen to Revell´s original score(s).
