David Hirschfelder (Shine, Australia, Elizabeth, The Railway ManSanctum, Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole) has recently been scoring the upcoming crime thriller Sleeping Dogs. The film marks the feature directorial debut of screenwriter Adam Cooper (Accepted, Exodus: Gods and Kings) and stars Russell Crowe, Karen Gillan, Márton Csókás, Harry Greenwood, Thomas M. Wright and Tommy Flanagan. The movie is based on E.O. Chirovici’s novel The Book of Mirrors and revolves around an ex-homicide detective with a fractured memory who is forced to revisit a case he can’t remember and must piece together the brutal evidence from a decade-old murder investigation. Cooper also co-wrote the screenplay with Bill Collage (Emancipation, Of Kings and Prophets). They are also producing the Nickel City Pictures production with Deborah Glover (A Perfect Pairing), Pouya Shahbazian (Divergent, Love, Simon), Henry Winterstern (Conan the Barbarian, An American Crime), Arun Kumar (Band of Robbers, Here Alone) and Mark Fasano (Marlowe, Haunt). Sleeping Dogs will be released in select U.S. theaters on March 22, 2024 by The Avenue.
