James S. Levine (Glee, Nip/Tuck, The Weather Man, American Horror Story, Running with Scissors, Star, Rizzoli & Isles) is scoring the upcoming Apple TV+ original series The New Look. The show is created by Todd A. Kessler and stars Ben Mendelsohn as Christian Dior, Juliette Binoche as Coco Chanel, as well as Maisie Williams, John Malkovich, Emily Mortimer, Claes Bang and Glenn Close. The 10-part historical drama inspired by true events is set against the World War II Nazi occupation of Paris and centers on the two fashion designers and their contemporaries as they navigated the horrors of the war and launched modern fashion. Jack Antonoff is curating the project’s soundtrack, which features covers of popular early to mid-20th century songs performed by artists such as Florence Welch, Bleachers, Lana Del Rey & Nick Cave. Kessler is also executive producing the Apple Studios and DB-AK production with Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, The Meg) and Mark Baker. Levine has previously collaborated with Kessler on FX’s Damages and the final two seasons of Netflix’s Bloodline. The New Look will premiere on February 14, 2024 on Apple TV+.
Levine’s other recent projects include the third and final season of La Brea, which currently airs every Tuesday on NBC.
