Steve Jablonsky (Transformers, The Island, Deepwater Horizon, Ender’s Game, Lone Survivor, DC League of Super-Pets, Skyscraper, Desperate Housewives) has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming film adaptation of the video game Borderlands. The movie is directed by Eli Roth (Hostel, The House with a Clock in Its Walls) and stars Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Jamie Lee Curtis, Haley Bennett, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu and Édgar Ramírez. The sci-fi action comedy follows the Vault Hunters who must travel to the distant planet of Pandora to retrieve an advance alien vault before it falls into the hands of the Atlas Corporation. Avi Arad (Spider-Man, X-Men) & Ari Arad (Ghost in the Shell) are producing the project with Picturestart’s Erik Feig (Step Up, I Know What You Did Last Summer). Nathan Barr was originally attached to score the movie, which was filmed in 2021 and reportedly went through reshoots directed by Tim Miller (Deadpool, Terminator: Dark Fate) earlier this year. Jablonsky has confirmed his involvement on social media. Borderlands is set to be released in theaters nationwide on August 9, 2024 by Lionsgate.

I can see the score working if its along the lines of Steve’s work on Pain & Gain.
Otherwise, I don’t expect much other than generic blockbuster music with bland orchestrations and electronics.
I honestly expected Bates to take this one but you know what, I love some Jablonsky sometimes
Steve Jablonsky is scoring Borderlands?!! Best fucking news I’ve heard in a LONG time!!!
