Carlos Rafael Rivera (The Queen’s Gambit, Godless, Hacks, A Walk Among the Tombstone, Chupa, Just Beyond) is providing the original score for the upcoming Netflix limited series Griselda. The show is created by Doug Miro (Narcos), Eric Newman (Children of Men), Carlo Bernard (The Great Wall) & Ingrid Escajeda (Silo) and stars Sofía Vergara, Alberto Guerra, Christian Tappan, Juliana Aidén Martinez and Martin Rodriguez. The crime drama is inspired by the life of Griselda Blanco who created one of the most profitable cartels in history and whose lethal blend of unsuspected savagery and charm helped her navigate between business and family, leading her to become widely known as “the Godmother.” Newman, Miro, Bernard, Escajeda & Vergara are also executive producing the project with Andrés Baiz (Narcos: Mexico) and Latin World Entertainment’s Luis Balaguer. Griselda will premiere on January 25, 2024 on Netflix.
Rivera’s other upcoming projects also include Apple TV+’s Lessons in Chemistry (to premiere on October 13) and AMC’s Monsieur Spade (to premiere in early 2024). He also recently scored Tony Goldwyn’s feature Ezra, which premiered earlier this month at the Toronto International Film Festival and is currently awaiting a distribution deal. The composer is also expected to return to co-score the third season of Max’s Hacks.
