22D Music has released a soundtrack album for the French/Moroccan sci-fi drama Animalia. The album features the film’s original music composed by Amine Bouhafa (Timbuktu, The Summit of the Gods, Four Daughters, Gagarine, Beauty and the Dogs, The Man Who Sold His Skin). Animalia is written and directed by Sofia Alaoui and stars Oumaïma Barid and Mehdi Dehbi. The movie revolves around a young Moroccan woman from a modest rural background who finds herself separated from her privileged husband and new family when supernatural events put the country in a state of emergency. The drama premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and just opened in French theaters last week. No domestic distribution deal has been announced yet.
