Rob Lane (John Adams, Merlin, Atlantis, The Damned United, Beowulf) has recently scored the new MGM+ original series The Winter King. The show is developed by Kate Brooke (Bancroft, Mr Selfridge) & Ed Whitmore (Manhunt, Identity) based on Bernard Cornwell’s Warlord Chronicles and stars Iain De Caestecker, Eddie Marsan, Ellie James, Stuart Campbell, Nathaniel Martello-White, Daniel Ings, Jordan Alexandra, Valene Kane and Simon Merrells. The drama is set in the fifth century, long before Britain was united, and follows Arthur Pendragon as he evolves from outcast to legendary warrior and leader. Brooke & Whitmore are also executive producing the Bad Wolf and One Big Picture production with Julie Gardner (Doctor Who, Torchwood), Lachlan MacKinnon (Industry) and Jane Tranter (Succession, His Dark Materials) serve as executive producers with Sherry Marsh (Vikings, Pose,). Shelley Browning and Kenneth L. Browning. Lane has previously scored the Brooke-, Gardner- & MacKinnon-produced fantasy series A Discovery of Witches. The Winter King will premiere in the U.S. next Sunday, August 20 on MGM+ and will debut in the UK later this year on ITVX.
