Paramount+ announced today (as part of the Star Trek Comic-Con presentation) that Kay Hanley and Tom Polce (of the rock band Letters to Cleo) have written ten original songs for an upcoming musical episode of the streamer’s original series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. The episode, entitled Subspace Rhapsody, will premiere as part of the show’s second season on August 9, 2023, and is also set to feature a special version of the series’ main title. Hanley has previously contributed songs to shows such as DC Super Hero Girls & Ada Twist, Scientist, while Polce has co-scored the documentary series Texas 6 and also contributed music to The CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. New episodes of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds created by Akiva Goldsman, Alex Kurtzman & Jenny Lumet and starring Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, Ethan Peck, Celia Rose Gooding, Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Melissa Navia and Babs Olusanmokun currently drop every week on Paramount+.
