Nathan Matthew David (Deadly Class, Young Rock, The Last Word, Angie Tribeca, Slice, A Man Named Scott) has recently scored the upcoming comedy Joy Ride. The film marks the directorial debut of screenwriter/producer Adele Lim (Crazy Rich Asians, Raya and the Last Dragon) and stars Ashley Park, Sherry Cola, Stephanie Hsu and Sabrina Wu. The movie follows four unlikely Asian American friends who embark on a once-in-a-lifetime international adventure. Cherry Chevapravatdumrong (The Orville) and Teresa Hsiao (Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens) wrote the screenplay. They are also producing the Point Grey / Red Mysterious Hippo production with Lim, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg & James Weaver (The Boys, This Is the End, Neighbors) and Josh Fagen. Joy Ride will premiere this week at the SXSW Film Festival and is set to be released in theaters nationwide on June 23, 2023 by Lionsgate.
David’s recent projects also include the Disney+ movie Chang Can Dunk, which just premiered on Disney+ last Friday and the documentary Stephen Curry: Underrated, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and will debut on Apple TV+ this year.
