Songwriter/record producer Gary Clark and director John Carney (Once, Begin Again) and have written the original songs for the upcoming musical drama Flora and Son. Clark also composed the original score for the film written and directed by Carney and starring Eve Hewson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Orén Kinlan and Jack Reynor. The movie follows a single mom who is at war with her teenage son and rescues a beat-up guitar from a dumpster to find him a hobby. Carney is also producing the Likely Story production with Anthony Bregman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Foxcatcher), Peter Cron (Do Revenge, Every Day) and Rebecca O’Flanagan & Robert Walpole (Papi Chulo, Handsome Devil). Clark has previously co-written the songs for Carney’s 2016 feature Sing Street and also collaborated with the filmmaker on a stage musical adaptation of the movie. He also served as the executive music producer on Carney’s Amazon original series Modern Love. Flora and Son will premiere later this month at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
