Composer Carter Burwell (Carol, Fargo, True Grit,Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Twilight) is reuniting with writer/director Brian Helgeland (42, Payback) on the upcoming crime thriller Finestkind. The film starring Tommy Lee Jones, Ben Foster, Toby Wallace and Jenna Ortega takes place in New Bedford, Mass., and follows two brothers from opposite sides of the tracks who are reunited as adults over one fateful summer and are forced to strike a deal with a dangerous Boston crime syndicate. Gary Foster (Sleepless in Seattle, The Score) and Russ Krasnoff (Community, The Soloist) are producing the project with Taylor Sheridan (Wind River, Those Who Wish Me Dead) and David C. Glasser (Yellowstone, 1883). Burwell has previously scored the Helgeland-directed features A Knight’s Tale and Legend. Finestkind is expected to premiere in late 2022 or early 2023 on Paramount+.
Burwell’s other recent projects include Martin McDonagh’s The Banshees of Inisherin, which is opening in select U.S. theaters this weekend, as well as Damián Szifron’s Misanthrope.
