Joseph Shirley (The Book of Boba Fett, Fairfax, Bad Trip, The Mysterious Benedict Society) has been tapped to score the upcoming sports drama Creed III. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Michael B. Jordan who also reprises his role of the title character. Tessa Thompson and Phylicia Rashad also return to star in the movie and are joined by new cast member Jonathan Majors who will portray Adonis’ new adversary, Anderson Dame. Keenan Coogler (Space Jam: A New Legacy) & Zach Baylin (King Richard) wrote the screenplay based on an outline by Ryan Coogler (Black Panther, Fruitvale Station) who is producing the MGM production with Irwin Winkler (Rocky, Goodfellas), Charles & David Winkler (Rocky Balboa), William Chartoff (The Mechanic) and Jonathan Glickman (Rush Hour, Shanghai Noon). Ludwig Göransson has previously scored the first two installments in the series, while Shirley worked as as a technical score engineer and score programmer as part of Göransson’s team. Creed III is set to be released in theaters nationwide on March 3, 2023 by United Artists.
