Isabella Summers (aka Isa Machine of Florence + the Machine) (Little Fires Everywhere, The Offer, Panic, Sex/Life) has composed the original score for the upcoming coming-of-age comedy drama Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe. The film is written and directed by Aitch Alberto and stars Max Pelayo, Reese Gonzales, Eugenio Derbez, Eva Longoria, Kevin Alejandro and Veronica Falcón. The movie is based on the bestselling novel of the same title by Benjamin Alire Sáenz and follows two Mexican American teenagers as they explore their friendship and the difficult road to self-discovery in 1987 El Paso. Derbez is also producing the project with Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, In the Heights), Valerie Stadler, Dylan Sellers (Pam & Tommy, Footloose), Chris Parker (Palm Springs, The Starlet) and Ben Odell (Overboard, The Valet). Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe will premiere next month at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival.
As previously reported, also has the animated feature Hitpig coming up. She also composed the music for Phyllis Nagy’s Call Jane, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and will be released in theaters on October 28 by Roadside Attractions, and Apple TV+’s Physical, which has been renewed for a third season.
