Composer/songwriter/bassist/record producer Marcus Miller (Everybody Hates Chris, I Think I Love My Wife, About Last Night) is reteaming with director Reginald Hudlin on the upcoming documentary Sidney. The film centers on legendary Sidney Poitier and his legacy as an iconic actor, filmmaker and activist at the center of Hollywood and the Civil Rights Movement. The movie features interviews with Denzel Washington, Halle Berry,Lenny Kravitz, Robert Redford, Barbra Streisand, Spike Lee, among others. Craig DeLeon (The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey, Music) has composed the project’s main title theme. Oprah Winfrey and Derik Murray (Facing Ali, Making the Cut) and are producing the Harpo Productions and Network Entertainment production. Miller has previously composed the score for most of Hudlin’s features, including Marshall, The Ladies Man, Boomerang, The Great White Hype, Serving Sara and Disney+’s Safety. Sidney will premiere next month at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival before coming out in select theaters on September 23 and making its debut on Apple TV+ on the same day.
