Volker Bertelmann (aka Hauschka) (Lion, Hotel Mumbai, Adrift, Patrick Melrose, The Old Guard, Your Honor) has recently scored the upcoming Norwegian war drama War Sailor (Krigsseileren). The film is written and directed by Gunnar Vikene (Falling Sky, Vegas, Trigger) and stars Kristoffer Joner, Pål Sverre Hagen and Ine Marie Wilmann. The movie follows two lifelong friends who are working on a merchant ship in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean when World War II breaks out and turns them into refugees at sea. Maria Ekerhovd (The Innocents, What Will People Say) is producing the Mer Films production. War Sailor will premiere in September at the 2022 Toronto Film Festival.
Also coming up for Bertelmann is Edward Berger’s All Quiet on the Western Front (also premiering at TIFF), the Peacock limited series Last Light (premiering on September 8) and Dev Patel’s Monkey Man.
