The experimental pop band Animal Collective is making its feature narrative film scoring debut on the upcoming drama The Inspection. The film is written and directed by Elegance Bratton and stars Jeremy Pope, Raúl Castillo, McCaul Lombardi, Bokeem Woodbine, Aaron Dominguez and Gabrielle Union. The movie follows a man who joins the Marine Corps after being thrown out of his mother’s home at 16 for being gay and living for years in housing precarity. Effie T. Brown (Dear White People, Real Women Have Curves) and Chester Algernal Gordon are producing the Gamechanger Films production. Animal Collective have previously scored the 2020 documentary Crestone. The Inspection will premiere next month at the Toronto International Film Festival and is expected to be released in theaters later this year by A24.
