Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy, Deadpool 2, 300, Watchmen, Dawn of the Dead, The Punisher) has composed the original score for the upcoming Netflix original film Day Shift. The movie is directed by J.J. Perry and stars Jamie Foxx, Dave Franco, Meagan Good, Snoop Dogg, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Karla Souza, Steve Howey and Scott Adkins. The horror action comedy follows an LA vampire hunter who has a week to come up with the cash to pay for his kid’s tuition and braces. Shay Hatten (Army of the Dead, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum) & Tyler Tice wrote the screenplay based on a story by Tice. Shaun Redick (BlacKkKlansman), Yvette Yates Redick, Chad Stahelski and Jason Spitz are producing the 87Eleven and Impossible Dream Entertainment production. Bates has previously co-scored the first three John Wick movies directed by Stahelski. Day Shift will premiere on August 12, 2022 on Netflix.
Bates also has Ti West’s X prequel Pearl (co-scored with Timothy Williams) coming up. The composer is also returning to co-score Adult Swim’s Primal, which will return for its second season on July 21.
