Variety is reporting that U2’s Bono and lead guitarist The Edge are in discussions to write and perform an original song and score the drama North Star. The film directed by Jim Sheridan (My Left Foot, In the Name of the Father) is based on the filmmaker’s early life in Northern Ireland and tells the coming-of-age story of a 17-year-old who lives with his rough-around-the-edges father and younger brother and finds his world turned upside down when a teenage orphan moves in to live with them. Sheridan is also producing the project with Timothy Scott Bogart & Jessica Martins (Spinning Gold, The Last Full Measure) and Catherine O’Flaherty. Bono has previously co-written the original song Time Enough for Tears for Sheridan’s 2003 feature In America. North Star is set to shoot in early 2023 in Ireland.
