Terence Blanchard (BlacKkKlansman, Malcolm X, 25th Hour, Harriet, Da 5 Bloods, One Night in Miami…) has composed the original score for the upcoming HBO Max original movie Father of the Bride. The film is directed by Gaz Alazraki (We Are the Nobles) and stars Andy Garcia, Gloria Estefan, Adria Arjona, Isabela Merced, Diego Boneta and Chloe Fineman. The romantic comedy revolves around a father as he is coming to grips with his daughter’s upcoming wedding through the prism of multiple relationships within a big, sprawling Cuban-American clan. Matt Lopez (Race to Witch Mountain, Bedtime Stories) wrote the screenplay based on the novel of the same name by Edward Streeter that has previously turned into a 1950 film adaptation (scored by Adolph Deutsch) and 1991 remake (scored by Alan Silvestri). Plan B Entertainment’s Dede Gardner & Jeremy Kleiner (12 Years a Slave, Moonlight) are producing the project with Paul Michael Perez. Father of the Bride will premiere on June 16, 2022 exclusively on HBO Max.
As previously reported, Blanchard also has Gina Prince-Bythewood’s The Woman King (set to be released in theaters on September 16) coming up.
