Dustin O’Halloran (Lion, Transparent, Like Crazy, The Old Guard, The Hate U Give, The Art of Racing in the Rain) & Herdís Stefánsdóttir (The Sun Is Also a Star, Y: The Last Man, We’re Here) have teamed up to score the upcoming Apple TV+ original series The Essex Serpent. The show is developed by Anna Symon (Mrs. Wilson, Deep Water) based on the novel of the same title by Sarah Perry and stars Claire Danes, Tom Hiddleston, Frank Dillane, Clémence Poésy and Hayley Squires. The drama follows a London widow who moves to Essex to investigate reports of a mythical serpent and forms an unlikely bond with the village vicar, but when tragedy strikes, locals accuse her of attracting the creature. Clio Barnard (Dark River, Ali & Ava) serves as the project’s director and is also executive producing the See-Saw Films production with Symon, Jamie Laurenson & Hakan Kousetta (The North Water, State of the Union), Iain Canning & Emile Sherman (The Power of the Dog, Shame) and Patrick Walters (Heartstopper). O’Halloran has previously co-scored the Canning- & Sherman-produced features Lion & Ammonite for See-Saw. The Essex Serpent will premiere on May 13, 2022 on Apple TV+.
