Joseph Stephens (Eastbound & Down, Vice Principals, Observe and Report, Flower, Arizona) has composed the original music for the new comedy drama Family Squares . The film is directed by Stephanie Laing (Veep, Dollface) and stars Billy Magnussen, Judy Greer, Sam Richardson, Ann Dowd, Scott MacArthur, Margo Martindale, Henry Winkler, Casey Wilson, June Squibb, Elsie Fisher, Timothy Simons and Jessica Miesel. The movie narrated by Rob Reiner centers on a family that has been divided for years and has to come together when their matriarch dies suddenly, only to discover that not only did she keep some secrets, so did everyone else. Laing also co-wrote the screenplay with Brad Morris and is also producing the project with Jonathan Tropper (This Is Where I Leave You, Banshee), Peter Odiorne and Alex Saks (The Florida Project, Book Club). Family Squares will be released in select theaters on and VOD on February 25 by Screen Media Films.
Stephens also continues to score Amazon’s Upload, which will return for its second season on March 11, HBO’s The Righteous Gemstones, which has just been renewed for a third season, Netflix’s Never Have I Ever, which will also come back for a third season, as well as HBO Max’s The Secret Lives of College Girls, which will return for a second season.
