Kathryn Bostic (Clemency, Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am, Holiday Rush, Rita Moreno: Just a Girl Who Decided to Go for It, Foster Boy) is scoring the new ABC limited series Women of the Movement. The show is created by Marissa Jo Cerar and stars Adrienne Warren, Tonya Pinkins, Cedric Joe, Ray Fisher, Glynn Turman, Chris Coy, Carter Jenkins and Julia McDermott.The 6-part drama tells the true story of Mamie Till-Mobley, who in 1955 risked her life to find justice after her son Emmett was brutally murdered in the Jim Crow South. Cerar is also executive producing the project with Kapital Entertainment’s Aaron Kaplan & Dana Honor (A Million Little Things, The Neighborhood) and Michael Lohmann (Tell Me a Story), Roc Nation’s Shawn Carter, Jay Brown and Tyran “Ty Ty” Smith, Westbrook’s Will Smith & James Lassiter (The Pursuit of Happiness, I Am Legend), Serendipity Group’s Rosanna Grace, Middleton Media Group’s Alex Foster and John Powers Middleton (Light of My Life), Mazo Partners’ David Clark, as well as Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Old Guard, Love & Basketball) who also directed the first episode. Women of the Movement will premiere on January 6, 2022 on ABC and will also be available to stream on Hulu.
Bostic’s other recent projects include Emily & Sarah Kunstler’s documentary Who We Are: A Chronicle of Racism in America, which is set to be released in theaters on January 14 by Sony Pictures Classics.
