Carter Burwell (Fargo, Carol, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, True Grit, Twilight, In Bruges) has recently been scoring the upcoming British comedy Catherine, Called Birdy. The film is directed by Lena Dunham (Girls) and stars Bella Ramsey, Andrew Scott, Billie Piper, Joe Alwyn, Dean-Charles Chapman and Isis Hainsworth. The movie based on the 1994 children’s novel of the same title by Karen Cushman and follows adventures of a 14-year-old girl in medieval England as she navigates through life and tries to avoid the arranged marriages her father maps out for her. Tim Bevan & Eric Fellner (Atonement, Baby Driver, Pride and Prejudice) and Jo Wallett are producing the Working Title Films production. Catherine, Called Birdy will be distributed by Amazon Studios and is set to be released in 2022.
Burwell’s other recent feature projects include Joel Coen’s The Tragedy of Macbeth, which is opening in theaters this Saturday, December 25 before making its debut on Apple TV+ on January 14.
