La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1994 martial arts movie The Next Karate Kid directed by Christopher Cain and starring Noriyuki “Pat” Morita, Hilary Swank and Michael Ironside. The album features the expanded and original score from the Columbia Pictures production composed by Academy Award winner Bill Conti (Rocky, Masters of the Universe, The Right Stuff, For Your Eyes Only, The Thomas Crown Affair) who also scored the first three installments in The Karate Kid series, including previously unreleased additional music tracks and alternate cues. The CD, which is limited to 3,000 copies, will be available to order on the label’s official website this coming Tuesday, November 30. The label has also announced a new soundtrack release for the 1980 original Friday the 13th movie directed by Sean S. Cunningham and starring Adrienne King, Kevin Bacon and Betsy Palmer. The album features the restored, remixed and remastered score from the Paramount Pictures production composed by Harry Manfredini (Wishmaster, House, Swamp Thing). Also included are previously unreleased music cues that were not used in the movie.
