Samuel Sim (The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, The Spanish Princess, Domina, The Halcyon, Home Fires) has composed the original music of the new ITV series The Long Call. The show is written and adapted by Kelly Jones inspired by the best-selling novel of the same title by Ann Cleeves (Vera, Shetland) and stars Ben Aldridge, Juliet Stevenson, Martin Shaw, Anita Dobson, Neil Morrissey, Dylan Edwards, Pearl Mackie, Sarah Gordy, Amit Shah and Alan Williams. The 4-part crime drama revolves around Detective Inspector Matthew Venn, who has returned to live in a small community in North Devon with his husband, a place he walked away from 20 years ago, after being rejected by his family. Kate Bartlett (Flesh and Blood, Dark Heart) executive producing the Silverprint Pictures production. Lee Haven Jones who previously collaborated with Sim on the feature The Feast (to be released in the U.S. on November 19 by IFC Films) has directed all four episodes. The Long Call is premiering in the UK tonight on ITV and will debut in the U.S. this Thursday, October 28 on BritBox.
Sim also continues to score ITV’s The Bay, which will return for its third season within the next couple of months.
