Dara Taylor (Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar, Echo Boomers, Trial by Media, Wildflower, Colewell) has composed the original score for the upcoming drama The Tender Bar. The film is directed by George Clooney and stars Ben Affleck, Tye Sheridan, Christopher Lloyd, Lily Rabe, Sondra James, Max Martini and Max Casella. Linda Cohen serves as the music supervisor of the movie, which is based on the best-selling memoir of the same name by J.R. Moehringer and tells the story of fatherless boy growing up in the glow of a bar where the bartender is the sharpest and most colorful of an assortment of quirky and demonstrative father figures. William Monahan (The Departed, Kingdom of Heaven) wrote the screenplay. Clooney is also producing the Smokehouse Pictures production with Grant Heslow (Argo, Good Night, and Good Luck) and Ted Hope (The Ice Storm, Adventureland). The Tender Bar will be released in select theaters on December 17, 2021 before expanding nationwide on December 22 and will debut on January 7, 2022 on Amazon Prime.
Taylor’s other recent projects include the animated movie Curious George: Cape Ahoy, which just premiered last week on Peacock, as well as the HBO Max animated show Little Ellen and the Netflix animated series Ada Twist, Scientist, which both premiered last month.
Not enough in the budget for Desplat? That’s disheartening.
