22D Music has released a soundtrack album for the drama Looking for Oum Kulthum. The album features the film’s original music composed by Amine Bouhafa (Timbuktu, The Man Who Sold His Skin, Gagarine, Beauty and the Dogs, A Son). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon (and any other major digital music services), where you can also check out audio clips. Looking for Oum Kulthum is directed by Shirin Neshat and stars Neda Rahmanian, Yasmin Raeis, GK Tahmid, Mehdi Moinzadeh and Kais Nashef. The movie centers an ambitious Persian director’s attempts to film the life and legacy of legendary Egyptian singer Oum Kulthum and her struggle with the daunting task of capturing the essence of the great diva. The drama premiered at the 2017 Venice and Toronto Film Festivals and made its U.S. premiere the following year.
