Haim Mazar (The Iceman, The Taking of Deborah Logan, Sneakerheads, I Am Wrath) has been hired to score the second season of the Hulu original series Woke. The show is created by Keith Knight & Marshall Todd and stars Lamorne Morris, Blake Anderson, T. Murph, Rose McIver and Sasheer Zamata. The comedy follows an African-American cartoonist who finds himself on the verge of mainstream success when an unexpected incident changes his life. Knight & Todd (Barbershop) are also executive producing the Sony Pictures Television production with Maurice “Mo” Marable (Brockmire), Will Gluck (Peter Rabbit, Easy A), Richie Schwartz (Moonbeam City), John Will (Band of Robbers), Eric Christian Olsen and Anthony King (Wrecked). Stanley Clarke has scored the first season of the show, which premiered last year. Season 2 of Woke is expected to debut later this year on Hulu.
Mazar’s other recent projects include the indie drama Continue (co-scored with Asaf Sagiv) directed by Nadine Crocker and starring Emily Deschanel, Shiloh Fernandez, Lio Tipton, Kat Foster and Annapurna Sriram. The movie revolves around a girl suffering from depression who is forced to get her life together when she is taken involuntarily to a mental institution. No word yet on a premiere date for the film.
