The only movie opening nationwide this week is the superhero movie’ Black Widow directed by Cate Shortland and starring Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, David Harbour and Rachel Weisz. The film’s original music is composed by Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, His Dark Materials, The LEGO Batman Movie, Bad Boys for Life, The Crown,The Tomorrow War). Hollywood Records and Marvel Music have released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Opening in select U.S. theaters and on VOD today is the French sci-fi horror thriller Meander (Meandre) written and directed by Mathieu Turi and starring Gaïa Weiss, Peter Franzen and Romane Libert. Frédéric Poirier (Hostile) has composed the film’s original music. YASCORE has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score this past May when the movie opened in French theaters. Also opening in select theaters today is the documentary The Loneliest Whale: The Search for 52 directed by Joshua Zeman about the quest to find the “52 Hertz Whale,” which scientists believe has spent its entire life in solitude calling out at a frequency that is different from any other whale. The film’s original music is composed by Alex Lasarenko (Booster, The Apple Pusher) and David Little. No soundtrack album has been released. The movie, which is executive produced by Leonardo DiCaprio & Adrian Grenier, is being released by Bleecker Street and will be coming out on VOD next Friday, July 16.
