Jon Ekstrand (Life, Easy Money, Child 44, Borg vs. McEnroe, Queen of Hearts, I Am Greta) has recently been recording his score for the upcoming historical drama Margrete – Queen of the North (Margrete den første). The film is directed by Charlotte Sieling (The Man) and stars Trine Dyrholm in the title role of Margrete I of Denmark, who is considered the most powerful ruler in Scandinavian history and gathered Denmark, Norway and Sweden into a peaceful union. Søren Malling, Morten Hee Andersen, Jakob Oftebro, Bjørn Floberg, Magnus Krepper and Thomas W. Gabrielsson are co-starring. Sieling also co-wrote the script with Jesper Fink (Before the Frost) and Maya Ilsøe (The Legacy). Birgitte Skov (Dark Horse, Man Divided) and Lars Bredo Rahbek (Flame & Citron) are producing the SF Studios production. Margrete – Queen of the North is expected to be released in Scandinavian theaters in late 2021.
Also coming up for Esktrand is Daniel Espinosa’s superhero movie Morbius, which is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on January 21, 2022 by Sony Pictures.
