Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, The LEGO Batman Movie, Bad Boys for Life, The Crown) has signed on to score the upcoming pandemic thriller Songbird. The film is directed by Adam Mason (Into the Dark, The Devil’s Chair) and stars KJ Apa, Sofia Carson, Craig Robinson, Paul Walter Hauser, Demi Moore, Bradley Whitford, Alexandra Daddario, Jenna Ortega and Peter Stormare. The movie is set a few years in the future, where a pandemic rages on, continuing to mutate and wreak havoc around the world and follows a delivery driver who must overcome martial law, murderous vigilantes and a powerful, well connected family to reunite with his partner. Mason also co-wrote the screenplay with Simon Boyes (Misconduct, Not Safe for Work). Michael Bay (Armageddon, The Rock, Transformers) is producing the project with Invisible Narratives’ Adam Goodman & Andrew Sugerman, as well as Marcei A. Brown, Jason Clark (Ted, The Orville), Jeanette Volturno and Eben Davidson. Balfe has previously collaborated with Bay on the features 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi and 6 Underground. Songbird is currently in post-production and is expected to be released in 2021 by STX Entertainment.
