Roger Neill (Beginners, 20th Century Women, King of the Hill, Like Father) has recently scored the new HBO Max original film Unpregnant. The movie is directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg and stars Haley Lu Richardson, Barbie Ferreira, Ramona Young, Sugar Lyn Beard, Breckin Meyer, Betty Who, Mary McCormack and Giancarlo Esposito. The comedy drama is based on the book of the same title by Ted Caplan & Jenni Hendriks and tells the story of a seventeen-year-old girl who hits the highway with a friend to obtain a legal abortion. Goldenberg also wrote the screenplay with William Parker, Caplan & Hendricks and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Someone Great). Greg Berlanti (Love, Simon, Life As We Know It), Sarah Schechter (The Flash, Riverdale) and Erik Feig (Step Up, Wrong Turn) are producing the project. Neill has previously collaborated with Goldenberg on this year’s Valley Girl. Unpregnant will premiere on September 10, 2020 exclusively on HBO Max.
Neill also has the indie drama Alex/October written and directed by Josh Hope and starring Brad Hunt, Tara Shayne, Stacy Edwards and Ethan Cutkosky coming up. The film centers on the relationship between a man and a bored girl who meet through a bizarre online classified ad. Shayne is also producing the movie with Lisa J. Freberg. No word yet on a premiere date for the drama.
