Howard Shore (The Lord of the Rings, The Silence of the Lambs, The Hobbit, Ed Wood, Spotlight) is composing the original music for the upcoming drama Pieces of a Woman. The film is directed by Kornél Mundruczó (Jupiter’s Moon, White God) and stars Vanessa Kirby, Shia LaBeouf, Ellen Burstyn, Jimmie Fails, Molly Parker, Sarah Snook, Iliza Shlesinger and Benny Safdie. The movie follows a Boston couple on the verge of parenthood whose lives change irrevocably during a home birth at the hands of a flustered midwife who faces charges of criminal negligence.Kata Wéber wrote the screenplay. Kevin Turen (Euphoria, Waves), Ashley Levinson and Aaron Ryder (Arrival, The Prestige) are producing the BRON Studios production. Martin Scorsese who has collaborated with Shore numerous times on such films as The Aviator, The Departed and Hugo serves as an executive producer. Pieces of a Woman will premiere in competition next month at the 2020 Venice Film Festival.
Shore’s other recent projects include Michel Hazanavicius’ The Lost Prince, which opened in French theaters earlier this year and is currently awaiting a domestic release.
