Actress Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give, The Eddy, Everything, Everything, The Darkest Minds) has been cast in the upcoming film adaptation of the stage musical Dear Evan Hansen. She will also be performing and co-writing an original song for the movie with Academy Award winners Benj Pasek & Justin Paul (The Greatest Showman, La La Land). The film will be directed by Stephen Chbosky (Wonder, The Perks of Being a Wallflower) and produced by Marc Platt (Bridge of Spies, Mary Poppins Returns) and Adam Siegel (Drive, 2 Guns). Steven Levenson who wrote the book for the Tony Award-winning musical is writing the screenplay. No production start date has been announced yet for Dear Evan Hansen, which will be released by Universal Pictures. (Deadline)
Pasek & Paul have several other movie/TV projects in development, including Disney’s Snow White, Blue Sky Studios’ Foster and an untitled musical drama for Showtime.
