Roque Banos (Don’t Breathe, Evil Dead, The Machinist, In the Heart of the Sea, Sexy Beast) is the composer of HBO Europe’s upcoming horror series 30 Coins (30 Monedas). The show is directed by Álex de la Iglesia (The Day of the Beast, Witching and Bitching) and stars Eduard Fernández, Megan Montaner, Miguel Ángel Silvestre, Macarena Gómez, Pepón Nieto and Manolo Solo. The series revolves around an exorcist, boxer and ex-convict, who is exiled by the church to a remote town in Spain, where a series of paranormal events expose his past and unravel a conspiracy that will lead straight to the heart of the Vatican. De la Iglesia co-wrote the Pokeepsie Films production with Jorge Guerricaechevarría (Cell 211, Perfect Strangers) and is also executive producing the project with Steve Matthews (Easy Living), Miguel Salvat (The Pioneer), Antony Root (Burning Bush) and Carolina Bang. Banos has previously collaborated with the director on several features, including The Last Circus and The Oxford Murders. 30 Coins will have a premiere screening next month at the 2020 Venice Film Festival and is expected to debut on HBO this fall.
Banos also has the Spanish musical comedy My Heart Goes Boom! (Explota Explota), which is set to be released theatrically in Spain this October, coming up. His other recent projects include Jacob Chase’s horror thriller Come Play, which is currently scheduled to be released in the U.S. on October 30 by Focus Features and Remi Weekes’ His House, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and has been picked up by Netflix for worldwide distribution.
