Terence Blanchard (BlacKkKlansman, Inside Man, Malcolm X, 25th Hour, Red Tails) is the composer of the new HBO original series Perry Mason. The show is developed by Ron Fitzgerald & Rolin Jones based on characters from Erle Stanley Gardner’s novels and stars Matthew Rhys, John Lithgow, Juliet Rylance, Tatiana Maslany, Chris Chalk, Shea Whigham, Stephen Root, Gayle Rankin, Nate Corddry, Veronica Falcón, Jefferson Mays, Lili Taylor, Andrew Howard, Eric Lange and Robert Patrick. The drama is set in 1932 Los Angeles and centers on a low-rent private investigator who is living check-to-check and is haunted by his wartime experiences in France and suffering the effects of a broken marriage. Fitzgerald and Jones (The Exorcist) are also executive producing the project with Tim Van Patten (Boardwalk Empire), Amanda Burrell, Robert Downey Jr. & Susan Downey (Sherlock Holmes, The Judge) and Joe Horacek. Blanchard also has National Geographic’s series Genius: Aretha (set to premiere this fall) coming up. He also recently scored Spike Lee’s feature Da 5 Bloods, which just premiered this past Friday on Netflix.
