John Paesano (Daredevil, The Maze Runner, When the Game Stands Tall, The Star) has been tapped to score the upcoming Leonardo. The show is created by Frank Spotnitz (The Man in the High Castle, The X-Files) & Steve Thompson (Jericho) and stars Aidan Turner in the title role of Leonardo da Vinci, as well as Freddie Highmore as a fictional young detective named Stefano Giraldo, Giancarlo Giannini as Leonardo’s master Andrea del Verrocchio and Matilda De Angelis as Caterina da Cremona, his dearest friend and mysterious muse. The drama tells the story of the 15th/16th century Italian genius. Daniel Percival (The Man in the High Castle) and Alexis Sweet are directing the limited series. The project is produced by Lux Vide with RAI Fiction and Big Light Productions in association with France Télévisions and RTVE, and is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television. Leonardo is expected to premiere in 2021.
As previously reported, Paesano also has Showtime’s Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, as well as the feature The Secrets We Keep coming up. He also scored Michael Almereyda’s Tesla, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and has recently been picked up by IFC Films for a domestic release on August 7, 2020.
