Netflix has announced today that Jason Robert Brown (The Last Five Years, The Bridges of Madison County, Honeymoon in Vegas) will compose new music for an upcoming film adaptation of the Broadyway musical 13. Tamra Davis (High School Musical: The Musical, Crossroads) will direct the movie based on the stage musical by Robert Horn & Dan Elish about a young man who grapples with his parents’ divorce following a move from New York City to small-town Indiana as he prepares for his impending Bar Mitzvah, and navigates the complicated social circles of a new school. Horn is writing the screenplay and Neil Meron (Chicago, Hairspray, The Bucket List) is producing the project. Production on the film is slated to begin this August.
