Quibi has announced today that Darren Criss will be writing original song for the streaming service’s upcoming original series Royalties. He is also co-writing and starring in the show, which follows the ascent of a ragtag songwriting duo as they navigate the strange and hilarious challenges of creating a truly great song. Each episode episode of the musical comedy will feature real-life entertainment personalities portraying fictitious music stars. Criss is also executive producing the SideCar production with co-writers Nick & Matt Lang, as well as Gail Berman (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel), Hend Baghdady, Joe Earley and Ricky Rollins. Criss has previously written an original song for Fox’s Glee, for which he received an Emmy Award nomination. Royalties is expected to premiere next year on Quibi.
