Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible: Fallout, The Lego Batman Movie, Home, Terminator Genysis, Genius, Pacific Rim: Uprising) is set to score the upcoming Amazon docu-series This Is Football. The show written and co-created by journalist and author John Carlin will tell six stories about the global power of soccer, including football’s uplifting role in Rwanda after the genocide, the rise of the women’s game, and Barcelona and Argentina superstar Lionel Messi. Joe Roth (Alice in Wonderland, Maleficent) is producing the October Films, Brutal Media and Starbucks production with Jos Cushing (Barbarians Rising). James Erskine (One Night in Turin, The Battle of the Sexes) serves as creative director. No premiere date has been announced yet for This Is Football, which will be available to stream on Amazon Prime. (Variety & Deadline)
