THR is reporting that singer/songwriter Cyndi Lauper is collaborating with her co-writer Rob Hyman on original songs for the upcoming animated feature The SpongeBob Movie: It’s a Wonderful Sponge. Ali Dee is also contributing a song to the film directed by Tim Hill (Alvin and the Chipmunks, Hop) and starring Tom Kenny, Bill Fagerbakke, Rodger Bumpass, Clancy Brown, Mr. Lawrence, Jill Talley, Carolyn Lawrence, Mary Jo Catlett & Lori Alan who will reprise their roles from the animated show. They are joined by Awkwafina and Reggie Watts. Ryan Harris (Walter) is producing the Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Films production. Hans Zimmer is involved in scoring the film. The SpongeBob Movie: It’s a Wonderful Sponge is set to be released on May 22, 2020 by Paramount Pictures.
