It was announced today that Gabriel Yared (The English Patient, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Cold Mountain, The Lives of Others) is the recipient of this year’s Max Steiner Film Music Achievement Award, which will be presented at the annual Hollywood in Vienna Concert Gala at Vienna Concert Hall on October 19, 2019. The composer will be accepting the award in person and will also perform his compositions on the piano, together with the ORF Vienna Radio Symphonic Orchestra, under the baton of Keith Lockhart (Boston Pops) on stage. The Max Steiner Award is presented yearly to the world’s most renowned film music composers and is a symbol of recognition for exceptional achievements in the art of film music. Previous recipients of the award include James Horner, Alan Silvestri, James Newton Howard, Howard Shore, Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer, Alexandre Desplat, Randy Newman, Lalo Schifrin and John Barry.
